Beginner Photography Class - What's This Button Do? - November/December 2020
Do you have a SLR camera that you really are not sure what to do with when you turn the knob away from Auto mode? Do you want to learn what all those letters and numbers on your camera mean? What are all those buttons and knobs for?
I will be holding a 6 week class (Fridays) in my studio teaching all the basics of shooting in manual mode and making you a better hobbyist.
Our next class will begin Friday, November 6, 2020. Class starts at 7pm. The studio is located at 230 W. Main St in Monrovia, just minutes from I-70. Each class will last about 1 hour. There will be no class on Friday, November 27th due to Thanksgiving.
The first class will cover the anatomy of the camera and lens. Each class after that will go over more specifics of the settings and what the buttons do. I will teach basic lighting techniques, and how to get clearer images, even with the lens that came with your camera!
Cost for the 6 week class is $99. This will also get you access to our Private Facebook group that is for attendees only! You will always have access to this group and be able to ask questions and share your photos for critique at any time. If you are not able to attend the class, don't worry, we will take video of each class and post it in the group! You must pay the registration fee in order to gain access to the group, though. Space will be limited for in studio class, so register now to make sure you don't miss out!
Weekly class topics: 1. Introduction: Anatomy of the camera and lens. 2. Moving out of Auto mode: ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed, Manual Focus. 3. Basic composition and lighting. 4. Flash: On camera vs hot shoe vs off camera. 5. Timers and tripods. 6. Storing and printing your images.
After each class, you are expected to take what you have learned and start using it. Share your images with the Facebook group. I will be available to answer questions on what you can do to improve those images.

Photo Walk - Nature Photography Class
Join me at Eagle Creek Park for a nature photo walk and class. This is a 4 hour class.
When: Sunday, October 25th 2pm-6pm
What are we learning?: We will be learning how to take dramatic landscapes and wildlife photos
The fall leaves will make a fantastic backdrop for this class. Many of the deer in the park have gotten used to humans being around and we will be able to get great photos of them. We will start at Lily Lake, which is absolutely stunning in the Fall.
Cost for this class is $79 per person. There is no limit to the number of people that can attend. We will practice social distancing, and wear masks as needed, since we will be outdoors.
